Great food with reasonable prices

Good food. Service is usually good, as well. They make great tasting menudo and caldo soup. Breakfast served all day at Hidalgo’s. There are at least 3 locations that I am aware of in San Angelo. I order the machacado ala Mexicana at least twice each month. I like the chicken fried steak meal, as well. Want a twist ? Ask for fish tacos. They aren’t on the menu .. but fish is on the menu and they always have corn tortillas. They’ll make you a plate of fish tacos for dinner. That’s a nice surprise. They serve beer, as well, if you are so inclined to have one. The salsa is pretty good. I’d bump the stars up but the one complaint that I’ve had for years is their chips. I’ve been told that they make them well in advance. They’re always crunchy and hard. Fresh tortilla chips would really make the dining experience much better. All in all ~ good place.

Love this place. I can see why it has been a staple in San Angelo for some time now. I can see why they they have 3 locations there and 1 in Christoval Tx. Great service and food.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, WAITRESSES HAVE BAD ATTITUDE WHEN ANSWERING PHONE AND ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU GO TO PICK UP UR TO GO ORDER. ORDERED A TO GO ORDER THEN DRIVE ALL THE WAY HOME JUST TO NOT GET WAT I ORDERED.CALLED AND TOLD THEM WAS MISSING A FOOD ORDER AND A SIDE OF REFRIED BEANS AND GOT THERE WAS TOLD WE WILL GIVE U THIS FREE THIS TIME NEXT TIME WE WILL HAVE TO CHARGE U. CAUSE THE COOK SAID THAT IT WAS THERE.LIKE HOW THE HELL AM I GONNA PAY FOR A FOOD ORDER I HAD ALREADY GOT CHARGED,DAME REALLY TRYING TO CHEAT ME OUT OF MORE MONEY.NEVER GOING BACK...😡😡😡🤔🙄

Excellent food and excellent service.

The waitress came to my table 2 times one time to ask what we wanted and another to give us our food never came back to refill the coffee to check on us she sat in the corner talking to one of her friends the entire time. Worst service I have ever had here. Won't be bringing my mom here again

Coming from northern California me and my wife quickly discovered that the best Mexican food is in places you least expect. And Hidalgo's lived up to the expectation. I got the combo dinner (Chile relleno, cheese enchilada, beef enchilada, a hard taco, rice and beans) for 9.50. It was amazing. I'm telling everyone about it. I'd like to add my wife loved their horchata, so if that's something you are looking for, you can stop searching.

Real mexican food, great enchiladas, lovely rice, tasty beans, friendly service. Had a steak and eggs this morning, very tasty! Also tried my companion's guiso, and I almost had to trade plates it was so good.

Because I live in the Austin area, I only get to stop here traveling to and from Colorado. This San Angelo Mexican restaurant is a gem! It's unassuming on the outside and small on the inside but you get huge plates of very tasty food at really reasonable prices. If you try it once, you'll go back. I was there in mid August and had the three taco plate with beans and rice. I love tacos and I left there stuffed.

Hildalgo's has several locations in San Angelo. While they all seem to have the same menu, this restaurant is small and showing its age. I really enjoy Hildalgo's West the best.

We're visiting family from out of town and this is our favorite place to go when we're here. Great, fresh food, great service, and the prices are really reasonable. Yum!!

I ORDERED A TO GO ORDER LAST WEEK FROM HERE. I GOT HOME CHECKED MY FOOD ORDER.I WAS MISSING ONE PLATE ORDER, MY 2 ORDERS OF CHICKEN STRIPS HAD NO GRAVY, SO I CALLED NICELY AND TOLD THEM I WAS MISSING A PLATE and the GRAVIES. THE WAITRESS WAS RUDE TOLD ME WW WILL GIVE TO U THIS TIME LIKE REALLY I PAYED FOR IT

A small establishment with a home town feel. Serving Tex-mex and Mexican cuisine at a reasonable price. When you spot an older building with a packed parking lot, it is worth investigating. I gave four of five stars for being a very good locals hangout for lunch. It was a solid dining experience and I doubt you would be disappointed with this local business. I make a point of dining in local restaurants and not big chain venues when traveling. The atmosphere is due to the warm people and not the gimmicks of a chain restaurant; who may dress their employees in ridiculous outfits, trying to convince you they are "authentic". I found my meal to be both flavorful and satisfying. I did not leave hungry.

Service was great the food was yummy. Really cozy place great for a casual date. I ordered migas mexicanas, the hash browns on the side were delicious!

Always order multiple plates to go, but will be taking my business some where else. Waitress was rude had an Attitude, & messed up my orders, called to talk to the manager she said hes not here & hung up.

This place stays busy from open to close. I am unable to comprehend why, as it has no nostalgia other than being a greasy spoon. The menu has comfort foods that are named as such in my home state New Mexico. Yet they only make me home sick as they lack the amazing flavors like Hatch green chile or a properly prepared relleno.

The food is delicious but the food is to big pacificly the nachos it was like the serving size for the bowls for when you come in
